Can a cyst cause infertility?
Cysts generally do not cause infertility. Cysts can occur in many locations, such as in the liver, kidneys, thyroid, and even in breast tissue or ovaries. A cyst is a benign lesion filled with fluid and surrounded by a membrane. Small cysts generally do not require treatment, but larger cysts may need surgical intervention if they cause compression symptoms. Cysts do not lead to infertility. If a patient is infertile, it is often due to many other reasons, such as abnormal ovulation, possible fallopian tube obstruction, issues with the uterine lining which affect the implantation of a fertilized egg, or even problems related to the vitality or quality of sperm. Further medical examination in a hospital is recommended.
