Is vitreous floaters close to retinal detachment?
Floater syndrome and retinal detachment generally have no necessary connection. Floater syndrome is the clouding of the vitreous body. Mild vitreous clouding does not affect vision and manifests as floating objects in front of the eyes. Pathological vitreous clouding that affects vision requires further examination by an ophthalmologist, including an ocular B-ultrasound to diagnose the extent of the vitreous clouding, and proactive treatment should be administered. Retinal detachment generally involves the separation of the retina from the choroid. Once a clear diagnosis of detachment is made, active treatment should be pursued promptly to restore vision as soon as possible. If the treatment is delayed, it can easily lead to retinal atrophy, resulting in the shrinkage of the eyeball.

How to treat blurry vision and floaters?
Blurry vision and floaters should prompt an examination by an ophthalmologist. Physiological vitreous opacities generally do not affect vision, but if they do, active treatment is required. Vitreous cloudiness can also be seen in patients with refractive errors, which include myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. In these cases, correct pupil dilation and optical correction should be done. After alleviating the issues with glasses, it is important to use the eyes properly, and orthokeratology can also be used. Once the prescription stabilizes, surgical treatment can be considered. However, surgical treatment generally only relieves the refractive condition and does not solve the nature of eye surrounding issues. Hence, it is crucial to use the eyes correctly and be cautious of further increase in the prescription.

Warm compress or cold compress for trachoma
Trachoma generally does not recommend hot or cold compresses, as it is caused by a Chlamydia trachomatis infection. For the treatment of trachoma, the main medications used are rifampicin eye drops, ofloxacin eye drops, and an eye ointment such as tobramycin ointment used once at night. Trachoma is somewhat contagious, mainly transmitted through contact; it is not transmitted without contact. Therefore, its contagious nature should be noted. The treatment process for trachoma is relatively slow, and recovery is also slow. It is relatively easy to reduce the symptoms in the eyes, but complete recovery is currently difficult. Therefore, it is important to persist with the medication, generally for about a month.

How will staying up late affect keratitis?
Keratitis can worsen if you stay up late. Keratitis can range from mild to severe. In severe cases, it may lead to blindness, while mild cases can usually heal within about a week with active treatment. If keratitis is not actively treated, it can eventually lead to corneal clouding such as nebula, macula, and leukoma, which can severely affect vision. Additionally, improper treatment of keratitis may lead to corneal ulcers or perforations, severely impacting vision. Another issue is recurrent keratitis, which can cause neovascularization affecting vision. Therefore, keratitis should be treated actively upon onset, with careful attention, regular follow-ups, and monitoring of vision.

Will nearsightedness be inherited?
Myopia has a certain hereditary aspect, but it is mainly caused by improper use of the eyes. Myopia is characterized by clear near vision and blurred distant vision, primarily due to changes in the eye's axial length. After the onset of myopia, it is crucial to properly dilate the pupils and conduct an optometric examination to rule out false myopia and amblyopia. Currently, the main treatments for myopia are still corrective glasses or orthokeratology lenses. Surgical treatment can also be considered for individuals aged 20 to 45. Once myopia develops, proper eye usage should be practiced, reducing close-range activities to avoid eye strain, and regular follow-ups are advised.

Can people with trichiasis undergo myopia surgery?
Generally, people with trichiasis should not undergo myopia surgery, as trichiasis primarily affects the eyeball. It causes abrasion to the cornea, affects the corneal epithelium, and can lead to neovascularization of the cornea and corneal pathology. Following the occurrence of trichiasis, surgical treatment should be considered. If there are only a few ingrown lashes, electrolysis of the eyelashes might be performed. After active treatment and once the condition has stabilized, the possibility of undergoing myopia surgery can be considered. Current options for myopia surgery include corneal laser reshaping surgery and ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) surgery.

Can erythromycin ointment be used for keratitis?
Keratitis can be treated with erythromycin eye ointment, but it should be used at night, not during the day. Keratitis involves inflammation of the cornea, and can be classified into bacterial keratitis, viral keratitis, fungal keratitis, corneal ulcers, and corneal perforation. If not treated promptly, it can severely affect vision. After the onset of keratitis, it is important to properly use eye drops and ointment for treatment. Regular rest and a light diet should be maintained. Avoid spicy and irritating foods, do not stay up late, use your eyes correctly, do not rub your eyes with dirty hands, have regular check-ups, and monitor your vision.

Can strabismus undergo laser myopia surgery?
If it is an adult with strabismus who also has myopia, it should be considered on a case-by-case basis whether myopia surgery is appropriate. For alternating strabismus, myopia surgery might be considered, but generally, it is not recommended. Since strabismus can cause many problems for the eyes, such as inappropriate positioning of the eyeballs during movement, which can easily lead to diplopia or monocular vision, causing issues like double images or binocular vision dysfunction, meaning there is no stereo vision. Patients with strabismus should first undergo strabismus surgery, then consider myopia surgery.

How long will the keratitis caused by dry eye syndrome take to heal?
Due to the damage to the corneal epithelium caused by dry eye, resulting in keratitis, it is essential to treat it promptly. With active treatment, recovery is generally possible within about a week. Treatment mainly involves the use of sodium hyaluronate eye drops, calf serum deproteinized extract eye drops, levofloxacin eye drops, and acyclovir eye drops. At night, use eye ointment once, specifically tobramycin eye ointment. Do not apply heat, rest well, engage in appropriate physical exercise to boost the body's immunity, adjust your mindset, reduce close-up activities to avoid eye fatigue, have regular follow-ups, pay attention to the condition of your vision. Active treatment is crucial to prevent future complications like thinning of the cornea, spots, and leukoma, which can significantly impact vision and lead to severe consequences.

Can opening the eye corner cure trichiasis?
Trichiasis, if caused by epicanthus, can be corrected by canthoplasty. If it is not caused by epicanthus but by entropion of the eyelid, canthoplasty will not be effective. For trichiasis with few lashes involved, electrolysis can be used for treatment. If there are many lashes involved in trichiasis, entropion surgery can be performed. The surgery is minor and complete recovery is possible; usually, dressings are changed after surgery and recovery can be expected within about a week. If trichiasis severely wears down the cornea, active treatment should be sought to protect vision and the cornea.
